I have heard this question several times over the years.  Clients feel they would be covered by their health insurance following an accident.  Unfortunately, this reasoning fails to take into consideration all of the other benefits available from Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Coverage to someone who has been seriously injured in an auto accident or even to the estate of someone who has been killed.  The purpose of Uninsured and Underinsured is to compensate the insured for all elements of damage they would have been entitled to receive from the person who caused the accident, but who carried either no bodily injury or not enough bodily injury coverage.  Along with medical expenses, damages could include pain, disability, loss of income, and more.  The only sure way to make sure you are adequately covered is to carry ample Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Coverage.
